Pre-Launch

Arrange to pick up helium from Wichita Welding (665-8311, 300 S Main) a couple of days ahead of time. |

Pick up helium tank. |
|
File NOTAM 24 hours in advance. |
|
Notify Hutch Tower (665-6557) 24 hours before launch. (662-4892 and 694-2692 are alternates). |
|
Pick up Lithium batteries (Primary transmitter, Secondary transmitter, camera, cutdown, etc...). |
|
Weigh capsule and all rigging and within weight restrictions (6 pounds per package). |
|
Install new Lithium batteries. |
|
Charge primary payload batteries. |
|
Charge secondary payload batteries. |
|
Charge cellphone batteries. |
|
Attach flags to capsules. |
|
Attach harmless package notices to capsules. |
Launch Day
|
Install lithium batteries (backup transmitter, backup controller board, Canon camera). |
|
SD Card. |
|
Confirm new batteries are installed (APRS, ATV, Camera, Backup, cutdown). |
|
Mount Canon camera with shutter open and disable flash. |
|
Pack primary capsule and start transmitter. |
|
Pack secondary capsule and start backup transmitter, ATV. |
|
Check backup transmitter for operation. |
|
Check primary transmitter for operation. |
|
Check ATV transmitter for operation with GPS data. |
|
Check GPS for satellite lock. |
|
Confirm primary battery voltage. |
|
Label harmless package notices with current date/time. |
|
Fill balloon on top of tarp using latex gloves. Have helium tank laying on its side. |
|
Check all knots in load line. |
|
Attach balloon. |
|
Thread lanyard through handling loop. |
|
Enable cutdown device after lanyards are secured. |
|
Call Hutch Tower 5 minutes prior to launch (665-6557). (662-4892 and 694-2692 are alternates). |
